Take to the skies

Here at Bergerac Aeroclub we can cater to your needs, wether it be a short flight over the local countryside, or learning to fly yourself. Bergerac Aeroclub can offer the following.

Discovery Flight (Baptême)

Flying over the Dordogne region, its many castles, or even your own home, there’s no shortage of landscapes to choose from! The Bergerac Aero Club offers discovery flights for up to three passengers at a time. You can choose the aeroplane that you would like to go up in. We have 4 seater touring aeroplanes, a classic 1940s 2 seat aeroplane, and also a 2 seat microlight. All of our aeroplanes can be seen here

In aeronautics, a « baptême » refers to the first flight aboard a flying machine (airplane, helicopter, glider, ultralight, balloon, etc.) consisting of a 30-minute scenic flight offered to non-members of the club by volunteer pilots. All profits are automatically allocated to the club.

The flying club also offers special tours, called Bastide Flights, which take you over the fortified towns that dot the region, making it particularly ideal for flying.

We have English pilots, and English speaking French pilots, so there is no problem if you are not a French speaker.

Our volunteer pilots are available 7 days a week, giving you a wide choice of times for your « scenic flight. » To allow the volunteer pilot to plan accordingly, we recommend booking your flight at least 48 hours in advance.

Introductory Flight

An introductory flight differs from a discovery flight in that it is taken with one of our certified instructors, and you get to take the controls of the plane. It is often a first step in to taking your flying further and working towards your own flying licence. The flight lasts between 30 and 50 minutes, with a briefing and debriefing at the club explaining in detail the objective of the flight, the different parts of the aircraft, and its operating principles. We have English speaking instructors so language is not a problem if you are not a French speaker.

You will also learn how to perform the « pre-flight check, » that is, the visual inspection of the aircraft before the flight, how to taxi the aircraft to the runway, understand the various documents the aircraft must have, use checklists, and much more!

Learn to Fly

If you want to go even further with your flying, then you can learn to fly with us. A certain level of French is required though as all exams will be French. However, we do have English speaking instructors that can talk everything through with you.
